Cert III Individual Support

/, News/Cert III Individual Support

John Henry Institute (JHI) offers more than a Certificate III; we offer a passport to employment.

Are you looking for a rewarding career in a booming industry? The health sector is one of the largest industries and employers in our region, so if you are looking to enter the industry, change careers or simply upskill, the Certificate III in Individual Support from JHI is the best qualification.

The Certificate III in Individual Support has three (3) streams: Aged Care , Home and Community Care and Disability. This qualification is best practice and is highly sought after across all three (3) industries. Usually, a training provider offers training in only one of these three streams, however JHI is no ordinary training provider. We provide guided support and assist our students to graduate with more than one focus and allow them to gain work experience in more than one sector.

What does that mean for students?
Well if you are not sure which care industry you want to work in, JHI can help you trial each industry to see which one you like the most. Although there is no need to specialise in all three – why limit yourself to one? In fact, with JHI, we offer the chance to gain the certificate III qualification and additional statement of attainments in all three (3) streams, so that you can work in more than one industry. That makes successful JHI graduates highly employable.

How does this work?
The Cert III Individual Support has core units and a certain number of elective units. The electives on offer meet the requirements for each of the streams. Once the total number of units for the qualification are completed, the student graduates. So for example, you may choose to do the aged care electives. Your certificate will be Certificate III Individual support (ageing). However, it is possible for students to undertake further elective units and receive a statement of attainment against Home and Community Care and Disability. Why would someone do extra units? Well if you do two specialisations, that opens up twice the opportunities and you are twice as employable. If you do three? That means you are three times more employable. That’s not just a job, that’s a career.

If one is enough for you, that is no problem, you can choose the stream you want and graduate once you have met the course requirements. If you change your mind later, we are able to help you add to your qualifications when you are ready. We offer a range of flexible delivery options to help you fit study around your work commitments, because JHI graduates are in demand.

For employers in the aging, home and community, and disability care industries, we know that confidence is everything, so when we tell you someone has passed a competency and can complete a task, you know it’s true. JHI works with our industry partners to ensure that our training is the highest quality. We use our local experts who have recent industry practice, we utilise specialised simulated training environments for our practical sessions, and we facilitate work experience in high quality facilities so our students have realistic expectations and understand their role. We love to support employers and their trainees, so JHI will attend workplaces for training and mentoring during the course of the traineeship. We can even deliver training activities onsite and fit in with the rosters and demands of the workplace. We know in your industry you provide 24 hour care so our delivery options are flexible. JHI is about supporting its trainees, students and graduates into employment, which only works if we support employers as well. JHI is proud to offer a unique training approach to ensure our graduates are ready for every opportunity.
